Mr. D and I are moving soon. I don't know what we're thinking.
After moving across the country last May, I swore I'd never move again. But look at us. Moving again after only 7 months. It's worth it though. We'll cut our commute time in half. Everyone say alleluia. That drive is rough.
This latest move has me dreaming of a new living room setup. Specifically, I want a new coffee table. Even more specifically, I want an awesome one.

Rah! Rah! Rah!
Much to Mr. D's relief, I'm officially a Tar Heel. On Monday, I start my new job at the UNC Pharmacy Alumni Association, and Mr. D is very excited our house is now fully devoted to the Heels.
I'm thinking this print from Old Try would look pretty snazzy in my new office.

Spoonflower.
You know how I want to be a seamstress? I've been trying really hard, but it's not easy to find fabric that matches our house. Well, my sister-in-law just sent me a link to Spoonflower. It's the bombdiggity. Lots of styles. Lots of colors. And you can even create your own designs.
Watch out. It'll suck you in.

Missoni for Target.
I'm hesitant to tell you about this because I want it all for myself, but Missoni teamed up with Target. The collection is awesome. It's available at Target September 13 - October 22. If I see you there, I will elbow you out of my away. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Office space.
I'm a big fan of TART, so it came as no surprise that I loved her recent office makeover. (Go over to her blog to check out more photos.)
Mr. D and I haven't done anything to our office yet besides paint it, and it just so happens we painted it almost the exact same seafoam green as TART. Great minds think alike.

Six impossibilities.
Love this print from Penny Wishes, which just so happens to be based in Asheville, North Carolina. Represent.

More like home.
We hung a few frames on the wall yesterday afternoon. It may or may not have majorly improved the look of the space. You decide.
But you better decide it did.
Eventually, I'll show you the rest of the room, but not until I get a new coffee table and end table. I can picture what I want in my head, but I haven't found them yet. They're out there though. I know it.

Little things in life make me happy.
We all know I love screenprints, but I'm usually pretty good at not buying them. These, however, are too beautiful to pass up. Kate Thomas of Little Things Studio, you are truly talented.

And it's done.
I spent most of this past weekend refinishing this dresser and nightstand. (Don't ask me why I took before photos with some of the drawers out. I'm just crazy like that.) And I'll be honest with you. It was a lot of work. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it again, but it was a lot of work.

I mainly followed these instructions. Two coats of primer, two coats of paint, and two coats of polyurethane. With sanding between each step. And I'm glad it's over.

Once I was done with that, I set to work on the hardware. I decided to replace the middle pulls with these yellow ones from Anthropologie, but I kept the others. I stripped the originals of paint and cleaned them with brass cleaner.
After that, Mr. D and I lugged everything into the bedroom, installed the hardware, and loaded the dresser with our clothes. (Mostly my clothes. Mr. D only has one drawer. Poor thing.) Here's the final product.

More screenprints.
I came across Mengsel on Etsy today. Can't decide if I want the robot or rooster print more. What do you think?

Phase One Master Bedroom Makeover: Complete
We still have a lot left to do with our master bedroom, but I thought I'd show you what we accomplished yesterday (no thanks to Walter, who snoozed on the bed the entire time). Paint!
Since our house is on the smaller size, we plan on sticking with a grey and yellow theme throughout. (I promise I'll share photos of the rest of the house soon.) For our room, we chose a dark grey. Very sophisticated, don't you think?
We have a new-to-us dresser and nightstand coming on Saturday, courtesy of the TROSA furniture store. TROSA is an organization that helps substance abusers get back on their feet. I love the organization, and it just so happens the furniture store is pretty fantastic too. After a few coats of paint, I have a feeling our new dresser and nightstand are going to look pretty nice in our new room. I'll post the photos as soon as I can.
Eventually, we'd like to get a new bed and headboard, hang curtains, paint the bench at the foot of the bed, and add a few other design details to the space. But that's all in due time, my friends.

I'm obsessed.
I've been head-over-heels for this house for awhile now, and it just occurred to me that I hadn't shared it with you. Doh.
It's Nicole's home from Me Oh My!. She's a stylist, so, of course, her home is perfect. I keep finding myself looking back at the pictures to see how she tackled certain design elements. And I seriously covet that teal couch of hers. And you saw that deer head, right? I've wanted one of those for FOREVER.
Mr. D and I are holding off on decorating our new place until we secure an income. (Genius, huh?) But I'm already planning on including many of Nicole's brilliant ideas.

Look what I made.
I am not a seamstress, but I want to be.
To teach myself, I decided to make curtains for our mini door window. Mr. D has a serious phobia of people spying into our house at night, so I knew I needed to cover the window. Mini curtains seemed like a good solution.
I invented a pattern. I'm pretty sure there's probably an easier way to make them, so I'm not going to tell you how I did it. Save yourself some time and frustration, and google it. You'll thank me. They turned out pretty nice. Walt kitty agrees. Next up: Matching curtains for our back door.

It's all in the family.
Story time. My mom, sister, and I decided to wander through an antiques mall in my hometown a few weeks ago. As we were walking up and down the aisles, my mom suddenly proclaimed, "Hey, I used to have that," and she pointed to the above piece of fine artwork. I assumed she meant, "I used to have something that looked just like that." But, no, she meant she had that exact picture of that funny looking owl dressed up as a baseball player.
I have no idea why my mom once decided she needed a picture of a baseball-playing owl. I've never known her to be particularly fond of owls—or baseball, for that matter. But my grandpa (her dad) was a picture framer, and my mom swore he framed it and gave it to her as a gift.
Well, I couldn't just take her word for it. I stood on my tiptoes and pulled the photo off the wall. And what do you know? It had my grandpa's logo on the back. So I did the most logical thing and bought it. I think Mr. Baseball Owl is going to look pretty nice hung on my wall.
What's the lesson here? Trust your mother? No, I think it's more like: My mom's belongings are now old enough to be considered antiques. What do you think, Mom?
